Banka CREDITAS Celebrates 30 Successful Years

On 26 February, Banka CREDITAS marked 30 years of successful operations on the financial market. In recent years, the bank has experienced significant growth, entered European markets last year, and achieved a record-breaking financial result. As part of the celebrations, it launched a client competition on social media.
Over the course of three decades, the bank has evolved from a regional credit union into a modern financial institution. Today, it is one of the few banks with Czech capital and Czech ownership. In the Czech Republic, it serves more than 260,000 clients, and across Europe—through its subsidiary banks—an additional 160,000. Its total assets, including subsidiaries, have exceeded CZK 300 billion.
“Thirty years is an important milestone, but above all it is a challenge for the future,” says Chairman of the Board Vladimír Hořejší. “We want to continue building a bank that truly works for its clients. We place strong emphasis on stability, trust, and prosperity. Currently, we are focusing on technological development and expanding our investment offering.”
In recent years, the bank has gained significant attention for its innovations in payment cards. In 2018, it introduced the exclusive Real Gold payment card made of genuine gold—the first of its kind not only in the Czech Republic but also in Europe. Last year, it expanded its premium card portfolio with the metal Mastercard World Elite Metal card and the unique ceramic Mastercard World Elite Ceramic card. These exceptional cards recently earned the bank the prestigious Mastercard Award 2026 for design on the Czech market.
Growth has also been driven by strategic acquisitions. The first was the acquisition of EkoRent, a company providing loans to medical professionals. In 2022, Expobank CZ was added to the group and later rebranded as Max banka, which merged with Banka CREDITAS in 2024. A major milestone was the bank’s first international acquisition. Last autumn, Banka CREDITAS successfully completed the acquisition of the MeDirect banking group operating in Malta and Belgium.
